Datchet is a civil parish and village located on the northern bank of the River Thames in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, Berkshire, England. Originally part of Buckinghamshire and the Stoke Hundred, the village was later included in Berkshire through the Local Government Act of 1972. Its development was spurred by its proximity to Windsor, as well as the ferry service that provided a connection to the main London Road. Eventually, the ferry was replaced by a road bridge located at the foot of the High Street, which has been rebuilt on three separate occasions. Additionally, there are two road bridges above and below the village, as well as a rail bridge that approaches Windsor across the river.
